a generous gift

Card makers are the most generous bunch of crafty ladies! This card uses a letter stamp set with an interesting history. The card is a thank you for a gal who had this lonely stamp set laying around so she sent it to her friend. I happened to be visiting that friend (hi Lynette!), mentioned how I loved this style of snap together letter stamps, and she promptly passed it on to me. I decided to use the stamp to make a thank you to send to both of them.
This design is inspired by Kristina Werner's blog- She often uses large lettered sentiments with simple designs on her cards. Perfect! I decided to break out the sewing machine for just a little extra embellishing. I'm not too sure about the pipe cleaner centers, but they were already out from something else so I just decided to experiment. Thanks for stopping by!

Pop up card

I love how this turned out! It's my first ever pop up card and I'm sure not the last. Colored with alcohol markers and decorated with glitter. FUN!

from belated, to really early!

After all those belated cards I thought I'd better get a jump on some Christmas ideas. Used a single snowflake stamp in various colors to create the wreath design. Thanks for looking!

faux carnival glass

This entry is for my cardin' friends, so to my friends and family, just enjoy the view and ignore all the technical stuff, OK?
Here's a few trial samples of this technique I learned at my LSS. It's hot melted ultra thick embossing powder, overlayed with fantasy film, then stamped. We used glass, a melting pot and a craft sheet, but I used chipboard and a toaster oven/parchment paper to melt the UTEE. If you try this technique, you'll need to melt multiple layers of UTEE so it is nice and thick. While the UTEE is still hot, quickly lay on the fantasy film and stamp immediately. Lift your stamp when it has cooled. Trim off the excess embossing and fantasy film with a scissors, and you can further finish the edge by melting it on the hot surface (my cookie sheet with parchment paper overlay), or using a metallic finishing tape on the edge (soldering supplies). Change the overall look by selecting different colors embossing powder and fantasy film colors. Endless possibilities as the heat also changes the fantasy film surface. Let me know if you try it!

It's a little "pasture" birthday

Another belated card. This one went to my Dad. What can I say, it was a busy summer!
Colored with alcohol markers and colored pencils with the magic colored pencil blending technique. After I did all that coloring I realized I should have let the kids color it for Grandpa. Maybe next time!

Cooking with wine

I like to cook with wine. Sometimes I even use it in the food. :)
This 5x5 card is scored and opens at the edge of the red. Those of you who know me know that cooking is not one of my favorite things to do!

make a wish

I'm just using my new corner flower stamp! Isn't it cute? This design, would translate well with different colors and change out the wording for a variety of occasions. (idea from online source- I think from the Hero Arts blog but I don't remember) It's hard to see in the photo but the circular edge is distressed giving the card some texture. My favorite part is the rhinestones and shiny ribbon for some added bling :)

Tell me I didn't miss your birthday!

I joined a swap where we were each to use the image sent. It's really neat to see how different card artists incorporate the image into their cards. This is my contribution. You can see the others at Cococats Cardmaking.
I sent one of these cards to my stepmom for her bday. Yes, I was late!

Sympathy Card 5x7

I made this sympathy card for a client. Liked it so much I used the idea to make Fathers' Day cards for my family! Idea from an online friend who sent me the photo from beautiful Nova Scotia
